For the last 10 years the internet has developed into a very low-cost kind of advertising. And the greatest attribute of the internet is that it is potentially a very inexpensive way to market your business. Local SEO, however, is different. Search engine optimization is the process of making the most out of a website by concentrating on the area of interest. Local SEO focuses on getting your website visible to the people who are likely to use it, and there are a number of ways to achieve this.
On-site optimization is one of the most important steps to getting your website visible. That will mean you have to get your keyword strategy right. When you are choosing keywords it is important to consider the kind of traffic you want to attract. One method of checking the kind of traffic is to use a Google analytics package. This is free and easy to use. You can enter a keyword to find monthly search volumes for that keyword. After this you can analysis the kind of traffic that is coming to your site and you can decide which keywords you want to go after. If you decide on a keyword that is too competitive you simply can’t get ranked for it, so you would be better off choosing a less competitive keywords. Once you have chosen your keywords you should go into the html and start inserting your keywords in the title tag, the header tag, the content of the article, where you see fit and in the meta tags. One your keywords are in all these you will have a head start. Then you just have to build your site. The best way I have found to do this, is to build each page on the site as it is being built. You are usually best to think of the title of the page as the keyword for the page. Its a good idea to have your main keyword in the URL as well. One your site is ready, you will need to submit it to Google. You can do this by creating a free Google webmaster account and submitting your sitemap to Google maps. Try to have a different address for each site you want to have ranking on. You can submit your site to Google, Yahoo and all the other major search engines in the increments they offer for free. Once you have done this you are ready to get some traffic to it.
Another thing you will want to do is very importantly when you are using the SEO techniques described above, is to make sure that your HTML tags are correct. This is of particular importance if you are using a content management system. A lot of the time, content management systems will not allow you to affect your HTML tags – make sure you change this before you submit to the various directories. Just a few changes in your HTML tags can make a huge difference in getting your site seen in the search engines.
